PRODUCT INFORMATION

Description

At some point, everyone gets sick and tired of their circumstances. They burn out at work, lose patience with their family members, or become exhausted from the stress of life. Healing is something everyone longs for, but people do not always know where to find it. The good news is that, with God's help, healing is ultimately found within. This book is a reflection on how what the author thought to be his greatest sign of brokenness became the very thing God used to begin his healing journey. May this book springboard each reader's journey toward hope and healing with God's help.

Critic Reviews

"In Grace Rediscovered, Ben Gosden leads us on a journey through fatigue, confusion and angst to God's gifts of grace, healing and hope. Ben is a spiritual guide whose life bears witness to authenticity and courage, and his ministry is an outward and visible sign of these virtues. This book is an extraordinary and timely resource for this season."
--Ken Carter, bishop, The United Methodist Church and Consulting Faculty, Duke University Divinity School

"I don't know many clergy who haven't had an existential crisis in the past few years. Ben Gosden's book is a helpful resource for those who are in an existential crisis or want to create a ministry that is less likely to lead to one."
--Luke Edwards, author of Becoming Church: A Trail Guide for Starting Fresh Expressions

"The principles and practices of the twelve steps of recovery have been one source of healing in my life. For eight years I served in a congregation of 'hope dealers' former dope dealers, workaholics or convicts who were met by the resurrected Jesus (sometimes known by that name and other times known only by his signature of new life). Persons in twelve-step recovery have discipled me and offer the gift of wisdom to the church. Ben's vulnerable act of sharing his journey of recovery is a powerful example of that gift. Every chapter describes a principle of recovery along with practical tools to meet you in your journey. Be warned: following this path will be painful, but not a pain multiplied by shame. It will be the pain of growth and hope and new life. Find a few people to read this book with. Let's quit hiding our secrets and begin living in the Light."
--Melissa Maher, United Methodist pastor, Houston, Texas

"Ben Gosden has written a bold and courageous book that will help you in your spiritual growth. You will find in Gosden's writing an invitation to the deep work of transformation. He's done the hard work himself. His gift to us is that in Grace Rediscovered he describes the journey and serves as a trusted guide that models the way forward for the rest of us. Read it. Digest it. Live it. You'll be glad you did. Highly recommend."
--Brian Russell, professor of biblical studies, Asbury Theological Seminary
